Spartan MATT TUTTON ran the 5 mile (one lap) option of the Stopsley Trail Race yesterday in 53:47. He said couple of tough hills on the trail and the heat made it a challenging course but a really good event overall.
Parkrun Highlights
The long hot summer continues and 39 Fairlands Valley Spartans ran the Stevenage parkrun. Did we say hot? Spartan SAM PAUL won the event in a new parkrun personal best of just 16 minutes 35 seconds. Another Spartan ANDREW PATTERSON was only six seconds behind in 16:41. A third Spartan SIMON JACKSON was also in the top five with his 18:19.
Overall there were 491 finishers.
BRONYA BROWN was the fastest female from Fairlands in 26:33. CLAIRE EMMERSON second in 27:05 and LORRAINE HILL third in 27:23.
HAYLEY PEACH cut her parkrun personal best time by 22 seconds to 32:15 and JULIE BUDDEN reduced hers to 37:33.
BRIAN WHITE and JIM BROWN were first and second in the “Super Vets.” Brian was first man 70 plus with 28:35 and Jim second with 30:41.
SHARON CROWLEY celebrated here birthday with a 36:54 run round Fairlands Valley Park.
Many Spartans visited parkruns outside Stevenage. They included GAIL MACKIE and TOBY ECCLESHALL at Dereham where Gail was second woman in 22:41 and Toby finished in 23:35. RICHARD COWLISHAW was in Vilnius, Lithuania where he finished the parkrun Vingis in 22:45.
PETER SACH was between Aberdeen and Dundee at the Montrose parkrun which he finished in 28:10.
PAUL SHELLEY and ALISON SHELLEY made a trip to Great Denham where Paul finished in 20:21 and Alison in 27:01.
STEVE WELLS was not hanging around at Braunstone, near Leicester which he completed in 19:36. MATT GIFFORD was not so far away. He finished the Henlow Bridge Lakes event in 22:34. KRIS WESTCOTT ran the St Matthews Field event in Bridgwater in 26:36 and REBECCA RAYNER the Oaklands College event in 38:25.
