SPARTAN 3 WEEK ROUNDUP

Watford Senior County Cross Country Championships – 8th January

Four Spartans were in a very wet and muddy Cassiobury Park and Whippendell Wood, Watford for Sunday’s Hertfordshire County Cross Country Championships.

MOLLY CRIMMIN and SHARON CROWLEY ran in the women’s championship with Molly 50th in 39:42 and Sharon 80th in 51:42.  The ladies raced over 8,000 metres – about five miles.

It was raining again for the men’s race that started at 1.30p.m.  ADRIAN BUSOLINI was 26th in 45:20 and NICK KLEANTHOUS 105th in 1:12:52.  The men raced over 11,250 metres – about seven miles.  They said the conditions, hills and distance made it hard work but the event was well organised and they were pleased to finish.

Mid Month Mayhem 10K – 15th January

GRANT RAMSAY had a good run on Sunday morning at the Mid Month Mayhem 10K event in Hitchingbrooke Country Park, Huntingdon.  Underfoot conditions were a bit of a challenge in the undulating trail event.  Grant was first over the line and took the course record with 40 minutes 48 seconds.  He said his skill set from the steeplechase competitions helped when tackling the mud and the puddles!

Fred Hughes 10 Miles

Twelve Spartans were among 1015 runners who completed the Fred Hughes 10 mile race on Sunday morning.  The course is undulating and due to the chilly weather conditions there were a few slippery patches.

Leading for the Spartans was MIKE JEFFS who came in at 108th in 66 minutes 2 seconds.  MO WARRILOW was the fastest female from with 1:25:49.

The start was in waves which is based on estimated finish times, ROBERT WRIGHT was 304th over the finish line in 1:15:17 and SAM SIMMONS 314th in 1:15:14.

STEVEN DOBNER and DAVID PATTMAN were 356th and 358th in 1:16:48 and 1:16:55.

JIM BROWN finished nearly two minutes faster than he had last year in 1:31:54.

CHLOE CHAPMAN finished in 1:36:36 with NICK KLEANTHOUS just eight seconds behind.  Next came ANN TRYSSESOONE with 1:39:39; SUE HAMER with 1:47:57 and SHARON CROWLEY 1:48:21.  Sharon was nearly nine minutes faster than the Buntingford Ten at the very end of December so she was very happy with that.

Parkrun Roundup

7th January – Annabelle White ran her 100th parkrun at Panshanger with 32 minutes 34 seconds (32:34).
