RELAYS IN THE PARK

The FVS 3K Relays returned for the first time since 2018 on Thursday with 115 teams taking part.  Fortunately the temperature had dropped from the previous few days, meaning the 460 runners and 30 marshals didn’t get roasted!  It was great to see so many clubs taking part, with male, female and mixed teams all entering.

In the men’s senior race Luton Athletics Club took first place, with North Herts Road Runners winning for the veterans.  North Herts took the senior women’s title, with St Albans Striders winning the womens vets.  Ware Joggers took both titles for the mixed race.

Fairlands Valley Spartans were third in the women’s over 35 race with SAM PRETTY 12 minutes 14 seconds; SUZY HAWKINS 11:20; ASHLEY KING 12:15 and MICHELLE REEVES 11:19 running the team’s 47 minutes 8 seconds.

Every team consisted of four runners covering a total of 12 kilometres.  There were two men and two women in mixed teams.

The relays in Fairlands Valley Park were great to run and to watch on a lovely sunny evening.

They included the Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire road relay championships.
