Eastern Vets Track & Field Championships

It was a blisteringly hot afternoon at Sandy for the Eastern Vets Track & Field Champs on Saturday. To drum up extra support it was opened up to other Vets Area clubs, which helped spice up the competition.

Steve Mayfield won M45 Silver in the Pole Vault, M45 Silver in the Long Jump, M45 Gold in the 100 metres, & M45 Bronze in the 400 metres.

Steph Mayfield won F40 Gold in the Pole Vault

Andy Neatham won M45 Gold in the 1500 metres.

Iris Hornsey won F70 Gold in the 1500 metres

John Harris won M50 Silver in the 800 metres & M50 Silver in the 400 metres

Sharon Crowley won F55 Gold in the 2km walk.

Spartans in the Middle

In the last event of a midweek 5 race series, a 10km in Welwyn Garden City, the Spartans team finished 8th of 15 teams. This meant 7 teams in front and 7 teams behind. Rather typical that the club sits right on the cusp, getting promoted one year, and relegated the next. This was the relegation year!
