Spartans bring home Gold Medal in the Men's Health Survival of the Fittest Rat Race.

Andrew Patterson and Simon Jackson completed
the 12k course through Nottingham on 12th October 2008.  The course included a few hurdles...First up was the two hay bale walls.  After the first challenge they moved our way to the front of the pack and built a substantial lead on their wave through all the obstacles that included a parkour challenge, an army assault course, a swim across the Trent, a postman's walk, a roadwork slalom course, a maze, running over a half pipe, climbing over and through a couple of cars, a basketball and rugby challenge, running up and down the terraces of Nottingham Forest's football ground, an archery challenge, and a few other what the race organiser's liked to call 'stocking fillers' were thrown in for good measure along the way before the most intimidating obstacle of the lot; the Men's Health Wall. Simon and Andrew then sprinted to the line to finish in a time of 58mins and 1 second, a time which was good enough to see them finish 6th and 8th overall and most importantly the Fairlands Valley Spartan's team won first prize.  This included a couple of bottles of champagne, and a Land Rover Experience (Andrew later realised they had not won a car but just a day messing about in one!). They both had a great day out, a race to recommend.
